SERVICE INFORMATION

A new CONSULT-II Diagnostic Software Card was provided to all dealers on April 1, 2001. The new card is red and white in color, and has "16MB" in the upper right-hand corner (see Figure 1). The new diagnostic card contains a 16 Megabyte (MB) application which supercedes the application on the 8 Megabyte blue diagnostic card.

To use the new application card, simply insert the card into Slot "A" (top slot) of the CONSULT-II tester, and power on.

Note:
The new application cannot be programmed onto the blue card due to the increase in the new application's size.

Note:
You can keep the 8 Megabyte blue diagnostic card as a backup, or reprogram the card as an ECM Reprogramming card by using the CONSULT-II "Update" option in ASIST. However, once you reprogram the blue card as an ECM Reprogramming card, you cannot go back to using it as a diagnostic card. ASIST now fully supports the new 16 Megabyte application card (Operation Manual, Updates, and version number.) Additionally, the blue card cannot be used as a NATS software card.

An updated Operation Manual for the new diagnostic card is available in ASIST. To access the manual, click the "CONSULT-II Info" button from the CONSULT Utilities window.

The new diagnostic software card provides many enhancements to the previous version. These enhancements are listed on the table.

CAUTION:
The new application card must be used when diagnosing the 2002 Q45.

NOTE:
If you have questions, please refer to the updated Operation Manual for the new diagnostic card in ASIST. To access the manual, click the "CONSULT-II Info" button from the CONSULT Utilities window.
