LOADING/INITIALIZATION OF CONSULT PROGRAM CARDS
APPLIED VEHICLES:
All which are CONSULT-Compatible
SERVICE INFORMATION
When using a new CONSULT Program Card for the first time, you must use the following procedure to load the program from the program card into the main memory. You must load the new card into the Consult, as soon as it arrives.
Terminology:
^ U920 Program Card refers to 1993 model year software.
^ U930 Program Card refers to 1994 model year software.
General Loading Introduction:
1. The memory size of the U_930 Program Card is larger than that of the CONSULT hardware RAM. Therefore, three (3) systems Auto Air Conditioner; ASCD; and Automatic Drive Positioner cannot be loaded into the CONSULT RAM with the other systems. See Figure 1 on the following page for an example of the operational sequence necessary to select a diagnosis of the ASCD system.
2. The systems that can be loaded into the CONSULT hardware RAM by the initial loading are the following:
^ Engine
^ Automatic Transmission
^ HICAS
^ Airbag
^ Local Area Network
^ Traction Control System (TCS)
^ Full Active Suspension
Figure 1:
The following flow chart gives an example of how to perform the operations on the CONSULT screen when selecting diagnosis of the ASCD system, which has not been loaded into the consult hardware RAM (Figure 1).
Loading/Initialization Procedure:
1. Hold down the keys in the upper left and right corners of the touch panel and press the power "ON" switch (Figure 2)
NOTE: If the keys in the upper left and right corners are not pressed correctly when the power "ON" switch is pressed, an alarm will sound and the power will not turn on.
2. The following message will appear on the display, "(Initialize by card) Insert Card, OK?" The failure of this display to appear indicates that the keys were not correctly pressed. If this happens, press the power "OFF" switch and repeat the above operation.
3. Insert the program card into the program card reader.
4. Press "Y" on the touch panel.
The power will be turned off if any key other than "Y" is pressed.
5. The program will start to load; then, four (4) English letters (alphabetics) and a blinking square will appear. After that, the following message will appear, "Initialize end".
The program can now be executed.
If the program card is not correctly loaded or if a defective program card is loaded, an error code will be displayed. If this happens, press the power 'OFF" switch and begin the loading/initialization sequence, again.
