Thermostat: Service and Repair





Removal

NOTE:
Removal of the thermostat would have an adverse effect, causing a lowering of cooling efficiency. Do not remove the thermostat, even if the engine tends to overheat.

1. Drain the engine coolant so its level is below the thermostat.
2. Remove the water inlet fitting (A) and thermostat (B).

Tightening torque :
18.6 - 23.5Nm (1.9 - 2.4kgf.m, 13.7 - 17.4lb-ft)

NOTE:
Install the thermostat with jiggle valve upward.




3. Installation is the reverse of removal.
4. Fill the engine coolant.
5. Start the engine and check for leaks.
6. Recheck the coolant level.
