SUBJECT:
WIND NOISE FROM OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR AREA

Description:
This bulletin provides information needed to eliminate a high pitched wind whistle noise that may be heard on some RB Accent vehicles. The noise may be heard while driving at normal freeway speeds and is usually traced to the outside rear view mirror area.





Note:
This noise may also change in frequency with different fan blower speeds.

Service Procedure:





1. Open door and proceed to remove the inner delta cover as indicated in step 2.





2. Pull delta cover straight out. Do not use any tools to pry the cover off.





3. After the cover has been removed, disconnect the connector as shown in the next step. Be careful not to scratch or mar any interior trim.





4. Disconnect the electrical connector as shown to facilitate the application of foam tape as explained in the next step.





5a. Cut a piece of foam tape (p/n 76268-9E005) to the approximate shape and dimensions shown on the right.

Note:
Foam tape P/N 76268-9E005 is included in the Hyundai Squeak and Rattle Repair Kit, P/N: J-43980-HMA available through your Parts Department.





5b. Remove the tape's backing to expose the adhesive side and apply the foam tape as shown.

Note:
The foam tape MUST fit tightly around the connector housing or wind noise will continue.





6. The applied foam tape should look like this.

Note:
To complete the repair, reassemble in the reverse order and verify that:

a) The wind noise is eliminated.

b) That the tweeter assembly functions as designed.
