CLUTCH PEDAL IGNITION LOCK SWITCH REPLACEMENT (SERVICE CAMPAIGN T38)

IMPORTANT:
DEALERS MUST PERFORM THIS CAMPAIGN ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES PRIOR TO CUSTOMER RETAIL DELIVERY AND WHENEVER AN AFFECTED VEHICLE IS IN THE SHOP FOR ANY MAINTENANCE OR REPAIR.

IMPORTANT:

DESCRIPTION:
^ This bulletin provides the procedure for clutch pedal ignition lock switch replacement.

VEHICLES AFFECTED:
(EQUIPPED WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION ONLY)

^ Elantra (HD)
^ Accent (MC)
^ Tucson (JM)
^ Tiburon (GK)

Affected vehicle production date range:
^ October 08, 2006 through October 28, 2006, for all affected models listed above.





PARTS REQUIRED

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

INSPECTION:





1. Remove the 14 mm nut [C] and remove the ignition lock switch.





2. Using the table below, determine if the ignition lock switch is in the LOT number range 6J02 - 6J14. If the ignition lock switch is in the affect lot number range, replace the switch. Refer to "Parts Required" above for ordering.

NOTE:
If the LOT number is NOT in the affected range, reinstall the original ignition lock switch using the installation procedure in the bulletin starting from step 3 in the replacement procedure.





3. Lot number identification and Affected lot number range as shown.

REPLACING IGNITION LOCK SWITCH:





1. Disconnect the ignition lock switch wiring connector [A] which is located under the clutch pedal.





2. Remove the connector [B] from the bracket.





3. Measure the distance [D] on the new ignition lock switch and verify that it is within the specification.

Specification: 4.7 - 5.3 mm (0.18 - 0.212 inches) (number of screw threads: 3-4).





4. Position the switch on the bracket and tighten the 14 mm nut [C].





5. Re-connect the connector [A] and attach the connector to the mounting bracket.





6. After installing the ignition lock switch, verify that the distance between the released position and the switch contacting position of the clutch pedal is within the specification.
