Service Procedure
NOTE:Verify that the vehicle is affected by identifying the vehicle production date.
INSPECTION:
1. Open the driver's door.
2. Inspect the driver seat belt buckle production lot number marked on the buckle surface.
REPLACEMENT:
1. Record the customer's radio stations, turn off the key and disconnect the battery.
2. Move the driver's seat to the foremost position.
3. Remove the driver's seat track rear mounting covers and seat track rear mounting bolts (14 mm, 2 each).
4. Move the driver's seat to the rearmost position.
5. Remove the driver's seat front seat track mounting bolts (14 mm, 2 each).
6. Tilt the seat rearward and disconnect the side airbag connector and the seat belt buckle connector under the seat.
NOTE:
Use caution not to break the connectors.
7. Carefully remove the driver's seat from the vehicle and place it on a flat padded surface to prevent scratches and contamination.
8. Recline the seat back as far as possible and unscrew the recliner inner cover mounting screws (4 each).

9. Determine which seat belt buckle is installed (refer to the table shown under Inspection step # 2).
^ Vehicles produced through February 20, 2002 - Use Kit P/N 88830-2CA00 and continue to Step ID.
^ Vehicles produced from February 20, 2002 and buckle production lot number of "020126" or greater - Use Kit P/N 88830-2CB00 and jump to Step 17.
NOTE:
Inspect the seat belt buckle wiring for vehicles produced from February 20, 2002, for damage to the wiring. If there are any visible cuts, nicks, or physical damage, use Kit P/N 88830-2CA00, and continue with Step 10.
10. Remove the front seat belt buckle mounting bolt (14 mm).
11. Turn the seat upside down. Remove the side airbag connector and seat belt buckle connector from the seat cushion frame.
NOTE:
Do not remove the black airbag connector holder from the seat frame.
12. Raise the seat height adjuster to provide a gap between the seat cushion and track.
13. Pull the side airbag and seat belt buckle connectors through the gap. Discard the removed buckle.
NOTE:
If the buckle is to be replaced, the wires attached to the buckle can be cut to make the removal easier.
14. Insert the connectors from the new seat belt buckle, supplied with service kit P/N 88830-2CA00, through the gap.
15. Attach the new seat belt buckle to the seat frame. Tighten the mounting bolt to 30-40 lb.ft (40-55 Nm).
16. Install the side airbag connector and seat belt buckle connector to the positions on the cushion frame where the connectors were removed in step 11.
17. Place the corrugated tube supplied with the service kit over the buckle wiring as shown.
18. Using the strap supplied, secure the corrugated tube to the seat track as shown. The strap should be positioned at the front of the seat track hole, about 30 mm from the end of the corrugated tube. Cut off the excess strap.
19. Place the seat in the vehicle.
20. Tilt the seat rearward and connect the side airbag and the seat belt buckle connectors.
21. Loosely install the front seat track bolts.
22. Slide the seat to the front. Install the rear seat track bolts. Tighten to 25-40 lb.ft (35-55 Nm).
23. Slide the seat to the rear. Tighten the front seat track bolts to 25-40 lb.ft (35-55 Nm).
24. Verify that the seat slides smoothly, and reinstall the rear seat track bolt covers.
25. Reconnect the battery.
26. Program the clock to the current time.
27. Program the customer's preset radio stations.
