DTC P1502 (SHORT OR OPEN IN RIGHT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT) INFORMATION MISSING FROM 2003 SHOP MANUALS
DESCRIPTION:
The 2003 Shop Manuals for the 2003 Elantra and 2003 Tiburon do not contain information about Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1502. (The 2001 and 2002 Shop Manuals do contain information about P1502.)
DTC P1502 (SHORT OR OPEN IN RIGHT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT) signifies a short or open in the right front wheel speed sensor circuit. The ECM must detect the condition for 10 continuous seconds. After two consecutive drive cycles of detecting this condition, the Check Engine Light will be Illuminated.
IF this code is encountered, check for open or short circuits using a DVOM (Digital Vol Ohm Meter). Typical sensor resistance is approximately 1.4 Kohm.
This sensor is installed on all 2001~2003 Elantra and 2003 Tiburon vehicles equipped with the 2.0L engine, with or without ABS.
This sensors signal is used by the ECM to detect rough road conditions. In order to improve the accuracy of misfire monitoring, when rough road conditions are detected, misfire monitoring is suspended temporarily.
Write this TSB # at the top of page FL-15 in the 2003 Elantra and Tiburon Shop Manuals.
