2003 TIBURON LEFT LOWER CRASH PAD MOUNTING BRACKET INSPECTION CAMPAIGN 050

DESCRIPTION:
The left lower crash pad bracket may not have been installed in some early production 2003 Tiburon vehicles during assembly.





This bulletin describes the procedure to inspect and if necessary, install the left lower crash pad bracket.

VEHICLES AFFECTED:
^ Model: 2003 Tiburon

^ Affected vehicle production date range: October 1, 2001 through January 29,2002

^ Affected VIN range: KMHHM65D73U001886 to KMHHN65FX3U018552

^ Only vehicles shipped to your dealership before January 30, 2002 (ship date, not arrival date). If the shipment date is unknown, access the "Warranty Vehicle Information" screen to verify Campaign 050 eligibility. This screen can be accessed in either your DCS interactive routine or the DCS On-Line Internet site.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

NOTE:
Verify that the vehicle is affected by identifying the vehicle production date and VIN.

LEFT LOWER CRASH PAD MOUNTING BRACKET INSPECTION:

1. Open the driver's side door.





2. Insert a hand under the left lower crash pad panel and feel for the left lower crash pad mounting bracket. Use a light source if necessary.

CAUTION:
The edge of the bracket may be sharp.

NOTE:
^ If the 9teel bracket is installed under the left lower crash pad panel, no further work is required.

^ If the steel bracket is not installed under the left lower crash pad panel, perform the following installation procedure.

LEFT LOWER CRASH PAD MOUNTING BRACKET INSTALLATION:





1. Remove the left lower crash pad panel assembly after removing the mounting screws (2 each).

NOTE:
Do not remove the hood release cable.





NOTE:
^ During removal and installation, use caution not to break the 4 mounting clips on the back of the left lower crash pad panel assembly.

^ Be careful not to scratch the finish of the left lower crash pad panel assembly during service.





2. Install the steel bracket using the supplied bolts (10 mm, 3 each) and nut (10 mm, 1 each) as shown.





3. Reinstall the removed left lower crash pad panel assembly.
