EMISSION LABEL REPLACEMENT - CAMPAIGN 060
DESCRIPTION:
Some 2001-2002 MY Elantra and 2003 MY Tiburon vehicles equipped with 2.0L engines contain incomplete underhood emission control information labels. These vehicles were sold in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and West Virginia.
The under-hood emission control system label on the vehicle contains information that the vehicle complies with California ULEV regulations. However, these vehicles also comply with U.S. EPA NLEV regulations, although the information about compliance with U.S. EPA NLEV regulations is not included on the label.
Replacement labels have been sent directly to owners of affected vehicles.
Vehicle owners have been instructed that they may take their vehicles to Hyundai dealers to have the replacement emissions label installed if they do not wish to perform the operation themselves. This bulletin provides a procedure to attach the correct label.
VEHICLES AFFECTED:
The affected vehicles were sold in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and West Virginia.

PART REQUIRED:
The proper emission label must be matched to the proper vehicle.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
1. Open and raise the hood.
2. Locate the existing emission label under the hood as shown.

"THIS VEHICLE CONFORMS TO U.S. EPA NLEV AND CALIFORNIA REGULATIONS APPLICABLE TO _____ MODEL YEAR NEW ULEV PASSENGER CARS".
4. If the emission label is not correct, select and attach the correct label as shown in the table above. The vehicle owner should be able to provide the correct label since it was sent to the owner in the mail.
5. If the customer does not provide the emission label, the applicable part numbers indicated above can be ordered through the parts ordering system.
6. Clean the surface of the existing label with isopropyl alcohol or glass cleaner.
7. Remove the backing from the new emission label and carefully place the label on top of the existing one, directly covering the existing label.
8. Close the hood, making sure it is securely latched.
