Group: CAMPAIGN

Number: 02-01-007

Date: JUNE, 2002

Model: 2003 TIBURON

Subject
2003 TIBURON EMISSION LABEL REPLACEMENT
(CAMPAIGN 054)

DESCRIPTION:

Some 2003 MY California specification TIBURON vehicles equipped with 2.0L engines were released with incorrect emission labels.

The vehicle fully conforms to the California ULEV in-use emission standard; however, the label incorrectly indicates that the engine is certified to the "INTERMEDIATE" in-use emission standard.

This bulletin provides a procedure to attach the correct label.

VEHICLES AFFECTED:

^ Model: 2003 TIBURON vehicles with California specification 2.0L engines

^ Affected vehicle production date range: August 21, 2001 - May 2, 2002

^ Affected VIN range: KMHHM65D73U001886 - KMHHM65D63U037732

PART REQUIRED:

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

NOTE:
Verify the vehicle is affected by identifying the vehicle production date and VIN.

1. Open and raise the hood.

2. Locate the existing emission label under the hood as shown.

3. Check to confirm that the correct label is attached to the hood inner. The incorrect label contains information for "THE EXHAUST EMISSION STANDARD" as indicated in the part information above. The incorrect label may also be identified by "G07" printed at the top of the label.

4. If the emission label is not correct, attach the correct label as shown in the photo.

^ Clean the surface of the existing label with isopropyl alcohol or glass cleaner.

^ Remove the backing from the new emission label and carefully place the label on top of the existing one, directly covering the existing label.

5. Close the hood, making sure it is securely latched.
