Service Procedure
NOTEVerify that the vehicle is affected by identifying the vehicle production date.
1. Remove the instrument panel fuse box cover.
2. Remove the OBD connector from the mounting bracket.
3. Remove the lower instrument panel as shown to more easily access the OBD connector for removal.
4. Remove the OBD connector as shown.
5. Remove the retainer from the back of the OBD connector by depressing the retainer tabs.
6. Remove the protective vinyl tube about 100 mm (4 inches) from the end of the connector.
7. Remove the tape covering from the wires.
8. Locate the No. 4 terminal wire in the OBD connector. Strip about 10 mm (1/2 inch) from the No. 4 wire (black color) at a point 80 mm (about 3 inches) from the connector end.
9. Splice joint the wire supplied in the kit to the wire stripped in step 8 using the splice terminal supplied in the kit and an electrical crimping tool.
10. Solder the splice joint.
11. Firmly insert the spliced wire's terminal (terminal is pre-installed in the wire kit) into the No. 5 wire cavity in the OBD connector until a click sound is heard.
12. Install the retainer onto the OBD connector.
13. Tape the splice joint area and then tape the wires as shown.
14. Reinstall the protective vinyl tube on the OBD connector wires and then cover with tape.
15. Reinstall the OBD connector to the original position as shown in the photo.
16. Install the OBD connector to the mounting bracket.
17. Install the lower instrument panel.
18. Install the instrument panel fuse box cover.
UNDERHOOD LABEL INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Raise the hood and properly support it with the hood prop rod.
2. Locate the open flat area where the label will be placed.
3. Clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol or glass cleaner.
4. Lift the bottom flap* on the "Authorized Modifications Label" and write the following information:
^ CHANGE AUTHORITY: 057
^ DEALER CODE: Your Dealer Code
^ REPAIR DATE: The date of the repair
NOTE
*This is a custom, two layer laminated construction label. The top layer is partially laminated to the bottom layer. The flap (bottom portion of the top layer) is lifted to expose the information fields mentioned above.
5. After writing the information from step 4, remove the backing from the bottom flap to expose the clear adhesive. Next press the bottom flap down to laminate it to the front of the label where you just entered the information.
6. Next remove the backing from the label, and press the entire label on the engine compartment wall in the position shown in step 2.
