2001-02 ELANTRA OIL PAN, SUCTION TUBE, CAPACITY AND DRAIN PLUG CHANGES

DESCRIPTION:

This bulletin describes oil drain plug, oil pan, suction tube and oil capacity changes for the 2001-2002 Elantra.





1. The oil drain plug has been changed from 12 mm (thread depth) to 17 mm thread depth. The new oil drain plug part number is 21512-23000.

^ P/N 21512-23000 drain plug has been installed beginning April 1, 2001 on 2001 on production vehicles.

^ P/N 21512-23000 can be used for all 2001 - 2002 Elantras.

^ The additional thread depth provides more thread engagement to prevent stripping the oil pan threads if the oil drain plug is accidently over-torqued.








2. The oil pan's depth, shape, mounting bolt access method and capacity has changed since its introduction. The oil suction tube also changed and should be matched to the proper oil pan or checked for proper clearance. See Table 1 shown for a summary of changes.
