DESCRIPTION:
This bulletin provides the procedure for replacement of the front seat track recliner cable. The front seat recliner cable has recently become available as a separate service part from the front seat track assembly.
PARTS INFORMATION
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
NOTE:
The service procedure noted below is for the driver's seat.
1. Record the customer's radio stations.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 30 seconds before proceeding to the next step.
3. Open the driver's door.
4. Move the front seat to the full forward position.
5. Remove the front seat plastic rear mounting covers and rear mounting bolts (14 mm, 2 each).
6. Move the front seat to the rearmost position.
7. Remove the front mounting bolts (14 mm, 2 each).
8. Tilt the seat back and disconnect the side airbag connector and seat belt buckle connector under the seat.
NOTE:
Use caution not to damage the connectors.
9. Carefully remove the front seat from the vehicle and place it on a flat surface to prevent scratches and contamination.
10. Remove the front seat recliner knob.
11. Remove the two front seat height adjuster handles and front seat outboard shield outer cover by removing 4 screws.
12. Lift up on the seat recliner handle and pull the recliner cable clip out of the recliner cable holding bracket welded to the seat track.
NOTE:
^ Use caution when removing and installing the recliner cable clip.
^ The cable clip must be positioned into the cable holding bracket correctly during installation.
13. Remove the recliner cable end out of the hole in the recliner.
14. Route the recliner cable through the hole in the seat track.
15. Remove the front seat inboard shield cover from the other side.
16. Remove the cable clip from the cable holding bracket. Make sure to note which notch the clip is attached to.
NOTE:
^ Use caution when removing and installing the recliner cable clip.
^ The cable clip must be positioned into the cable holding bracket correctly during installation.
17. Remove the seat recliner cable end out of the hole in the recliner.
18. Pull the recliner cable through the hole in the seat track. Make sure to note which hole in the seat track the recliner cable is routed through.
19. Reinstall the new front seat recliner cable in reverse order of removal.
20. Reinstall all removed components and reconnect all disconnected connectors.
21. Reinstall the front seat, torquing the seat anchor bolts to 35-55 N.m (25-40 lb.ft).
22. Verify that the seat and seat back function correctly.
23. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
24. Reset the customer's radio stations and clock.
