REPAIR
Interior door trim panel fabric repairs should only be performed by an experienced upholstery shop.
DESCRIPTION:
If Elantra door trim panel fabric edges or concave areas peel or loosen in hot weather, it may be caused by an insufficient quantity of adhesive.
If the door trim panel fabric is confirmed to be loose, the door trim panel can be removed and sent to an experienced upholstery shop for repair.
Door Trim Panel Fabric General Repair Procedure:
1. Remove the fabric panel from the door trim panel.
2. Remove the fabric material from the fabric panel.
3. Clean the old glue off of the fabric panel and fabric.
4. Apply the proper adhesive (Keyston Bros. Adhesive or equivalent) to both the back side of the fabric and the fabric panel surface.
5. Reinstall the fabric to the fabric panel.
6. Reinstall the fabric panel to the door trim panel.
NOTE:
Each upholstery shop's repair methods may be slightly different, but should be consistent with this reconditioning procedure.
When the door trim panel is received from the upholstery shop, verify the following:
1. The fabric panel has been properly installed to the door trim panel.
2. The fabric adheres to the fabric panel smoothly; no bubbles should be present.
3. The edge of the fabric is properly inserted into the door trim panel.
4. The door trim panel and fabric are free from dirt and adhesive residue.
WARRANTY INFORMATION:
Submit warranty claims for removal and installation of the door panel. Refer to the claim processing manual for sublet reimbursement procedure.
