Automatic Transmission/Transaxle: Service and Repair
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION1. Remove the drain plug and drain out the transaxle fluid.
2. Disconnect and remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Loosen the mounting clamps and disconnect the re turn and supply hose.
NOTE: To prevent to entry of dust and foreign matter, plug the disconnected hoses and the transaxle fitting part.
4. Remove the control cable.
5. Remove the speedometer cable.
6. Separate the pulse generator connector, transaxle range switch connector, kickdown servo switch connector, solenoid valve connector and the oil temperature sensor connector.
7. Remove the transaxle-to-engine bolt from the upper portion of the transaxle.
8. Attach engine support fixture (09400-29000) to the engine.
9. Remove the gear box, stabilizer bar, tie rod end, lower arm ball joint and drive shaft.
10. Remove the gear box u-joint bolt and the return tube mounting bolts.
11. Remove the starter motor.
12. Remove the transaxle mounting bracket.
13. Remove the front roll stopper.
14. Remove the rear roll stopper.
15. Remove the subframe mounting bolts and the sub frame.
16. Install the jack under the transaxle assembly.
17. Remove the transaxle lower bolts.
18. Remove the engine to automatic transaxle bolts.
19. Remove the automatic transaxle assembly by jack.
CAUTION:
1. Engine and transmission mounting Insulators should be Installed by the specified them.
2. Mounting bracket Installation procedures.
1) Engine mounting bracket.
2) TAW mounting bracket.
3) Rear roll stopper mounting bracket.
4) Front roll stopper mounting bracket
3. Especially, when Installing front roll stopper mounting bracket, be careful not to crush the Insulator. If crushed, Idle vibration Is high.
INSTALLATION
1. Attach the torque converter on the transaxle side and mount the transaxle assembly onto the engine.
CAUTION: If the torque converter Is mounted on the engine first, the off seal on the transaxle side may be damaged. Therefore, be sure to first assemble the torque converter to the transaxle.
