VEHICLES AFFECTED:
TCM SPECIFICATIONS:
CAUTIONS BEFORE REPROGRAMMING:
1. Conduct reprogramming with the ignition key in the "ON" position.
2. Be careful not to disconnect any cables connected to the vehicle or Hi-Scan Pro during reprogramming.
WARNING:
If reprogramming is interrupted, the manual update procedure must be used.
3. Do not start the engine during reprogramming.
4. Do not turn the ignition key off during reprogramming.
5. When the reprogramming is completed, turn off the ignition key for 20 seconds before starting the engine.
REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE:
NOTE:
Verify that the vehicle is affected by identifying the vehicle production date and VIN.
AUTOMATIC UPDATE PROCEDURE:
1. Remove any software cards from the Hi-Scan Pro and insert reprogramming card into the Hi-Scan Pro top slot.
2. Connect the reprogramming adapter to the Hi-Scan Pro.
3. Connect the white reprogramming connector (2-pin or 10-pin) to the reprogramming adapter.
NOTE:
Use the correct reprogramming connector.
^ 2000-01 Accent produced prior to 3/30/01: White 2-pin reprogramming connector.
^ 2001 Accent produced from 3/30/01 and 2002 Accent: White 10-pin reprogramming connector.
4. Connect power to the Hi-Scan Pro from the cigarette power adapter.
5. Insert the power cable from the reprogramming adapter into the cigarette power adapter.
6. Connect the cigarette power adapter into the vehicle cigarette power socket.
7. 2000-01 ACCENT produced prior to 3/30/01: Connect the white 2-pin reprogramming connector to the vehicle black 2-pin TCM reprogramming connector under the dash. The 2-pin connector is located 6 above the Data Link Connector (DLC).

NOTE:
If the Hi-Scan Pro does not download the program after trying several times, use the Manual Update Procedure following this section.
WARNING:
Do not interrupt the reprogramming at any time. The TCM may be rendered inoperative if the program does not download completely.
17. When the "REPROGRAMMING COMPLETED!" message is displayed, the TCM reprogramming process is complete.
