Rear
REAR AXLE/HUBREMOVAL
1. Remove the rear wheel.
2. Remove the brake drum.
3. Remove the wheel speed sensor from the axle carrier.
4. Remove the brake hose clip and detach the brake hose from the shock absorber.
5. Raise the crimped portion of the flange nut and remove the flange nut.
6. Remove the hub assembly.
NOTE: The rear hub unit bearing should not be dismantled.
INSPECTION
1. Measure the rear hub bearing starting torque.
a. Install the rear hub assembly to the carrier spindle.
b. Tighten the large nut to the specified torque.
c. Use a spring balance to measure the hub rotation starting torque.
Standard value: 3.2 kg. (7.0 lbs.) or less
d. If the starting torque is out of standard value, remove the hub and inspect each parts.
2. Check the rear hub bearing for wear or damage.
3. Check the rear tone wheel for chipped teeth.
4. Check the hub inner surface for scoring
5. Check the carrier for cracks.
