Subject:
FD46XG PAG OIL SPECIFICATIONS FOR AIR CONDITIONING COMPONENT REPLACEMENT

DESCRIPTION:

This bulletin provides the quantities of FD46XG PAG (Poly Alkylene Glycol) oil that needs to be added to or removed from the A/C system during A/C component replacement.

CAUTION:
^ Air conditioning lubricant oil or refrigerant vapor can irritate your eyes, nose and throat.

^ Be careful when connecting service equipment.

^ Do not breathe lubricant oil or refrigerant vapor.

PROCEDURE:

Refrigerant Recovery

1. Connect a R-134a refrigerant recovery/recycling/charging station to the high pressure service port and the low pressure service port. Recover the refrigerant and refrigerant oil. Follow the equipment manufacturer's instructions.

2. Measure the amount of refrigerant oil removed from the A/C system after the refrigerant recovery process is completed.

Part Replacement

3. Replace the required A/C component per shop manual procedures.

System Evacuation

4. When an A/C system has been opened to the atmosphere, such as during installation or repair, it must be evacuated using a R-134a refrigerant recovery/ recycling/charging station.

5. Evacuate the system. Follow the equipment manufacturer's instructions.

System Charging

6. Before charging, add the same amount of new refrigerant oil to the A/C system that was removed during recovery in step 2 plus the additional refrigerant oil required from the table shown. Use only FD46XG (PAG) refrigerant oil.

7. Charge the system with the specified amount of R-134a refrigerant. Do not overcharge the system; the compressor will be damaged.

NOTE:
^ When all the A/C system components are replaced at the same time, there is no need to add any additional PAG oil. The new compressor already comes with the correct amount for the entire system.

^ If the oil in the A/C system is lower than the specified amount, the compressor durability will be decreased.

^ If the oil in the A/C system is higher than the specified amount, the A/C performance will be decreased.
