Disassembly and Reassembly
DISASSEMBLY1. Before removing the piston rod tightening nut, compress the coil spring using special tool.
CAUTION: Do not use an air tool to tighten the bolt of the special tool.
2. While holding the piston rod, remove the piston rod tightening nut.
INSPECTION
1. Check the rubber parts for damage.
2. Check the coil springs for damage or deterioration.
REASSEMBLY
1. Install the lower spring pad so that the protrusions fit to the holes in the spring lower seat.
2. Compress the coil spring using the special tool and insert it in the rear strut.
3. Align the edged of the coil spring to the position of the rear strut spring seat as shown.
NOTE: When replacing a coil spring, be sure to use a spring having the appropriate identification mark.
4. Assemble the insulator assembly to the piston rod, fitting the notch in the rod to the D shaped hole in spring seat.
5. Fully install the new self-locking nut but do not tighten it.
6. With the position of the bracket assembly as shown in the illustration, remove the special tool.
7. While holding the insulator assembly tighten the nut to the specified torque.
NOTE: When replacing a coil spring, be sure to use a spring having the appropriate identification mark.
