2000 ELANTRA ENGINE COMPARTMENT NOISE ON COLD ENGINE START

DESCRIPTION:

On some 2000 model year Elantras a noise may be heard for the first few minutes after starting and driving in cold weather. The customer may describe the noise as appearing to come from the instrument cluster or the dash panel area. It may be described as a groan, a rubbing noise, or a squeak.

CAUSE:





The noise may be caused by the accelerator cable outer housing rubbing on the bottom of the air intake hose.

REPAIR:

Wrap the accelerator cable where it passes under the air intake hose with an adhesive backed foam tape, such as "camper shell tape"
