DESCRIPTION:





Recently, Hyundai shipped the new A/T Tester II to your dealership. This tester is designed to troubleshoot the New Generation Transaxle - 1999 - 2000 Accent (LC), 1999 - 2000 Elantra (RD)/Tiburon (RC) produced after 6/1/99 (with a 6-solenoid valve transaxle), 2001 - Elantra XD, 2001 Santa Fe (SM), 1999 Sonata (EF).

TEST PROCEDURE:

Attach the A/T Tester according to the Auto Transaxle Tester II Operation Manual.

AUTOMATIC SHIFT TEST

TOGGLE SWITCHES- Select: EF, XG for EF, XG, RD or SM vehicles, or
LC for LC and RD with 6 solenoid transaxle

Select: 4AT or SAT for 4-speed or 5-speed transaxle

KNOBS- Select: EF, XG for EF, XG, RD or SM vehicles, or LC for LC and RD (6-solenoid)

Set: Selector knob to NORMAL,

LEDs- Monitor: LEDs for proper functioning of the solenoids.

NOTE:
The LEDs for the LC and RD (6-solenoid) are ON when the solenoid is engaged. The LEDs for the EF, XG, SD and SM are OFF when the solenoid is engaged.

MANUAL SHIFT TEST:

1. With the vehicle stopped and the brake pedal depressed, move the appropriate gear selector knob to"1".

2. Turn the knob to shift the transaxle through 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 at or below the speeds shown below:

1-2 15mph

2-3 25mph

3-4 35 mph

4-5 60 mph (5 speed A/T only)

NOTE:
After testing, move the gear select knob to "NORMAL". Turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position to cancel 3rd gear "fail-safe" mode.
