Installation

1. Install HLA.
2. Install camshaft after lubricating journal of camshaft with engine oil.
3. Install camshaft bearing caps, noting that DOHC models have I and E markings on caps for intake/exhaust identification and torque to 9-10 ft. lbs. in two or three passes.
4. Install rocker arm and rocker arm shaft.
5. Using camshaft oil seal installer tool No. 09221-21000, or equivalent, press fit camshaft oil seal. Ensure to apply engine oil to external surface of oil seal. Insert oil seal along camshaft front endplay and install by driving installer with a hammer until oil seal is fully seated.
6. Install camshaft sprocket and tighten bolts to specifications.
7. Align camshaft sprocket and crankshaft sprocket timing marks. piston in No. 1 cylinder will then be at top dead center on compression stroke. Tighten camshaft sprocket bolt to specifications.
8. Install a gasket in rocker cover groove.
9. Install rocker cover and tighten bolts to specifications.
10. Install spark plug cables, ignition coil assembly and cylinder head center cover.
11. Install timing belt and tighten timing belt tensioner pulley to specifications.
12. Install timing belt cover.
13. Install water and pump pulley and crankshaft pulley.
