Recall - Rear Suspension Arm Shield Installation

LEFT REAR SUSPENSION ARM SHIELD INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

THIS TSB HAS BEEN REVISED TO INCLUDE AN UPDATED CAMPAIGN OPERATION CODE

1. Lift the vehicle and remove the left rear suspension bump stopper mounting nut.





2. Hold the stopper by reaching into the coil spring. Hook the shield locating ear over the spring seat flange. Place the shield against the bottom of the spring seat with the locating ear toward the rear of the vehicle and with the threaded stud on the stopper passing through the shield. Locate the shield so that the drain hole in the shield is aligned with the drain hole.in the spring seat.

3. Reinstall the stopper mounting nut and torque to 13-18 lb.ft. Lower the vehicle.





4. Check the gap between the most inboard surface of the rear suspension arm shield and the fuel tank flange, as shown.

If the gap is less than 5 mm proceed to step

5. It the gap is 5 mm or greater proceed to step 7.





6. Loosen the fuel tank band mounting nuts, just enough to allow the fuel tank to be shifted slightly to the right. Do not remove the fuel tank band mounting nuts. Do not remove the fuel tank.

7. Carefully move the fuel tank slightly to the right to provide additional clearance from the shield and retighten the fuel tank mounting strap nuts.

Caution:
When repositioning the fuel tank be careful not to damage the hoses and wiring connected to the fuel tank.





8. Place a punch mark over the fourteenth digit on the VIN plate.
