EGR Valve: Testing and Inspection
INSPECTION1. Remove the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve and check for sticking, carbon deposits, etc. Repair or replace as needed.
2. Connect a hand vacuum pump to the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve.
3. Apply a vacuum of 19 in Hg and check that vacuum is held.
4. Apply vacuum and verify the following conditions;
- With 2 in Hg or less applied air does NOT blow through Valve.
- With 7 in Hg or more applied air DOES blow through Valve.
5. If not all specifications are met, replace the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve.
