Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The Canister Purge Solenoid Valve controls canister purge operation based on signals from the Engine Control module.

OPERATION
When the engine is cold the Engine control module keep the Canister Purge Solenoid Valve off forcing fuel vapors to be absorbed into the Canister. After the engine warms up and under certain conditions the Canister Purge Solenoid Valve is activated by the Engine Control Module allowing vacuum to flow and purge the Charcoal Canister.
