Water Pump: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Drain cooling system, then remove drive belt.

3. Remove water pump pulley, Fig. 38.
4. Remove timing belt cover and tensioner.
5. Remove water pump mounting bolts, then the alternator support brace.
6. Remove water pump assembly.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque water pump mounting bolts marked "4" to 11 ft. lbs. and bolts marked "7" to 20 ft. lbs.
b. Install timing belt tensioner, then adjust belt tension as outlined under Timing Belt procedure.
