EGR Thermo Valve

Thermo Valve Location:

PURPOSE
To provide control over EGR operation based on coolant temperature.

LOCATION
Located on the thermostat housing,

CONSTRUCTION
The valve, is a thermo-wax type.

OPERATION
As the engine temperature rises above a preset point, a wax element in the unit expands moving a mechanical valve in the unit. This closes off the vented port (closing the valve) providing vacuum to the EGR valve.
