Manual Transmission/Transaxle: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove clutch cylinder, then drain transaxle fluid.
3. Remove air cleaner assembly.
4. Disconnect select and shift cables, backup lamp switch connector and speedometer cable.
5. Remove starter mounting bolts and the starter motor.
6. Remove transaxle assembly upper connecting bolts and transaxle mounting bracket bolt.
7. Remove splash shield.
8. Disconnect tie rod end, lower arm ball joint and driveshaft.
9. Remove bellhousing cover.
10. Support transaxle assembly with suitable jack, then remove transaxle assembly lower mounting bolts.
11. Remove transaxle assembly.
12. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Tighten bolts to specifications.
b. Refill transaxle with suitable oil.
c. Bleed clutch system and adjust clutch pedal as outlined previously.
