Fig. 3 Clutch Pedal Height & Clevis Pin Play:

Fig. 4 Adjustment Of Clutch Pedal Clevis Pin:

Fig. 5 Clutch Pedal Freeplay & Distance To Firewall When Engaged:

1. Measure clutch pedal height (A) and clutch pedal clevis pin play (B), Fig. 3. The value of (A) should equal 6.8-7.0 inches. The value of (B) should equal .04-.12 inch.
2. If either (A) or (B) are not within specifications, adjust as follows:
a. Disconnect clutch switch connector and turn the switch for standard clutch pedal height, then lock with locknut, Fig. 4.
b. Turn pushrod, Fig. 4, to adjust clutch pedal clevis pin play to proper value, then secure push rod with locknut. When adjusting the clutch pedal clevis pin play, ensure pushrod is not pushed toward the master cylinder.
c. Upon completing the adjustments above, confirm clutch pedal freeplay (C) is .25-.50 inch. Ensure distance (D) between the clutch pedal pad and the firewall is 2.2 inches on Sonata models, and 1.6 inches on Excel and Scoupe models or more when clutch is disengaged, Fig. 5.
d. If clutch pedal freeplay (C) and distance (D) are not within the correct range, check for air in hydraulic system or defective clutch or master cylinder.
