Control Arm: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect strut bar from control arm.2. Remove ball joint to control arm retaining nuts and bolts, then separate ball joint from control arm. Do not separate ball joint from steering knuckle unless damage to ball joint or dust cover is evident.
3. Remove control arm to crossmember retaining nut and bolt, then the control arm.
4. Inspect control arm and bushings, replacing parts as necessary.
5. Install control arm, then the retaining nut and bolt onto crossmember. Do not tighten nut at this time.
6. Install ball joint to control arm, then tighten retaining nuts and bolts to specifications.
7. Loosely install strut bar.
8. Lower vehicle to floor, then tighten control arm to crossmember and strut bar to control arm retaining nuts and bolts to specifications.
