Pull-In Test of Magnetic Switch

The following diagnosis and testing procedure is made after removal.

Fig. 5 Starter Motor Testing:

1. Disconnect connector from M terminal.
2. Connect a 12 volt battery between S terminal and M terminal, Fig. 5. Perform this test in less than ten seconds to prevent coil from burning.
3. If pinion moves out, then pull-in coil is good. If it does not pull in, replace solenoid.
