Hold-In Test of Solenoid

The following diagnosis and testing procedure is made after removal.

1. Disconnect connector from M terminal.
2. Connect battery voltage between S terminal and body ground. Perform this test in less than ten seconds to prevent coil from burning.
3. If pinion remains out, coil is operating. If pinion moves in, hold-in circuit is open. Replace magnetic switch.
