Choke Thermostat/Heater: Adjustments

Bimetal Assembly Initial Alignment:

NOTE: Since the bimetal assembly is aligned and riveted in place at the factory, it is not necessary to adjust during normal service except for replacement.
First determine if the electric choke system is operating properly (refer to TESTING PROCEDURES), and then inspect the bimetal assembly to ensure that it is properly aligned with the alignment mark. If the bimetal assembly is located clockwise of the alignment mark the mixture will be enriched, counter clockwise it will be lean. Correction of a misaligned bimetal assembly requires removal of the rivets (refer to Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Carburetor/Service and Repair).
