CONDITION

In laboratory tests Hyundai has been able to induce a malfunction in the microprocessor of the cruise control unit. This only occurs in vehicles equipped with the Excel Hi-Power radio with cassette (H340). It was found that if the cruise control switch is in the "ON" position and the car's electrical system experiences a voltage drop, the cruise control may operate erratically when placed in the "set" mode. We have also found that the movement of the cruise control switch to the "OFF" position cancels the malfunction. Application of the brake pedal alone will not cancel the malfunction. This situation cannot occur if the cruise control is in the "OFF" position. Therefore, the cruise control should be switched to the "OFF" position until the electronic control module is replaced.

CORRECTION

Replacement of the electronic control module of the Genuine Hyundai Cruise Control whether or not the vehicle is equipped with the Hi-Power radio with cassette.
