Cleaning the SUB-EGR Valve

17. Disconnect the subEGR valve linkage by pressing in on the retaining pin and spring, and pulling upward on the linkage.





18. Remove the rubber boot and then remove the sub-EGR valve.

WARNING:
When removing the boot, be careful not to damage it.





19. Clean the valve with carburetor cleaner (PIN 00212-19130 or equivalent). Use a piece of very fine emery cloth to remove any carbon deposits. Clean the valve by twisting it on the emery cloth.

WARNING:
Do not clean the valve with a bead blaster, wire brush, or wire wheel to prevent scratching the valve. The scratches will allow new carbon deposits to build up on the valve.





20. Spray carburetor cleaner into the sub-EGR valve bore in the carburetor to clean the passageway.





21. Install the rubber boot on the sub-EGR valve and re-install the subEGR valve into the carburetor. Re-install the rubber boot into the groove on the valve housing. Connect the linkage to the valve.

CAUTION:
Assure proper operation of the sub-EGR valve by operating the throttle linkage.





22. Spray the choke blade shaft inside the air horn and the area around the air jets with carburetor cleaner.





23. Re-connect the intake air temperature sensor and vacuum hoses, and re-install the air cleaner assembly.
