Disassembled View Of Breakerless Type Distributor:

DISASSEMBLY

1. Position distributor in a suitable soft-jawed vise.
2. Remove distributor cap, seal ring and rotor.
3. Remove vacuum controller retaining screws, disconnect controller link from breaker base pin, then remove vacuum controller,
4. Remove attaching screws, igniter and black lead wire.
5. Remove signal rotor shaft and breaker plate retaining screws, then the signal rotor shaft and breaker plate assembly.
6. Drive signal rotor shaft from signal rotor.
7. Remove governor spring retainers, springs and governor weights.
8. Mark location of drive gear on distributor shaft.
9. Place drive gear end of distributor shaft on a soft surface, then drive roll pin out using suitable punch.
10. Remove drive gear and washer.
11. Remove distributor shaft from housing.




ASSEMBLY

1. Thoroughly clean and inspect all components. Replace parts as necessary.
2. Install distributor shaft into housing.
3. Install drive gear onto distributor shaft, aligning marks made during disassembly.
4. Install new roll pin using suitable punch.
5. Install governor weights, springs and retainers.
6. Install signal rotor shaft into distributor shaft.
7. Install breaker plate into housing, ensuring that projection in plate engages groove in housing.
8. Install and tighten breaker plate retaining screws.
9. Press signal rotor onto rotor shaft, ensuring spring pin fits securely onto shaft.
10. Install igniter onto breaker plate and tighten attaching screws.
11. Connect one end of black lead wire to igniter and other end to breaker plate.
12. Using suitable feeler gauge, check and adjust air gap between signal rotor and igniter pickup. Air gap should be .030 inch.
13. Install vacuum controller, ensuring controller link is properly connected to breaker base pin, then tighten controller retaining screws.
14. Install rotor, seal ring and distributor cap.
