Catalytic Converter: Description and Operation

The catalytic converter is an emission control device added to the exhaust system to reduce the levels of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and oxides of nitrogen entering the atmosphere. Dual three-way type converters are used on these vehicles to help further reduce exhaust emission levels.
