Checking Operation of the Jet Mixture Solenoid Valve

27. Start the engine and allow it to warm up for five minutes.





28. Insert the sensor probe of an exhaust gas analyzer into the tail pipe. Raise the engine speed to 2300-2700 rpm. The jet mixture solenoid valve operation can be checked by reading the carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon values.

Satisfactory Values

CO: 2.0% or below

HO: 100 ppm or below

29. If the readings exceed these values, replace the jet mixture solenoid valve. If they are within the satisfactory values, go to RESETTING THE IGNITION TIMING, step 33.
