Thermal Vacuum Valve - EVAP: Description and Operation

The thermo valve, also a component of the EGR system, senses coolant temperature in the intake manifold and closes the purge control valve when coolant temperatures are below a preset value. This results in decreased levels of carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions during engine warm-up. When coolant temperatures exceed a preset value, the thermo valve activates the purge control valve.
