J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers
Removal Procedure
1. Drain the coolant from the radiator. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Vac-N-Fill) (Service and Repair).
2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging).
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the oil pan skid plate. Refer to Oil Pan Skid Plate Replacement (Oil Pan Skid Plate Replacement).
5. Remove the engine shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement (Engine Shield Replacement).
6. Remove the transmission cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection (Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection) for the 4L60-E/4L65-E transmission, if equipped.
7. Using J 38185 reposition the radiator outlet hose clamp from the radiator.
8. Remove the radiator outlet hose from the radiator.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Remove the cooling fan. Refer to Fan Replacement (LLR) (Fan Replacement)Fan Replacement (LH9) (Fan Replacement).
11. Using J 38185 reposition the radiator inlet hose clamp.
12. Remove the radiator inlet hose from the radiator.
13. Remove the radiator vent inlet hose from the radiator.
Note: Push retainers back to release the fan shroud from the radiator.
14. Remove the fan shroud from the radiator.
15. Remove the discharge hose. Refer to Discharge Hose Replacement (LLR) (Discharge Hose Replacement)Discharge Hose Replacement (LH8) (Discharge Hose Replacement).
16. Remove the evaporator tube. Refer to Air Conditioning Evaporator Tube Replacement (LH8) (Air Conditioning Evaporator Tube Replacement)Air Conditioning Evaporator Tube Replacement (LLR) (Air Conditioning Evaporator Tube Replacement).
17. Remove the radiator retaining bolts.
18. Remove the radiator support bracket retaining bolt.
19. Remove the radiator support bracket.
20. Reposition the condenser from the radiator.
21. Remove the radiator from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the radiator assembly to the vehicle.
2. Reposition the condenser to the radiator.
3. Install the cooling fan. Refer to Fan Replacement (LLR) (Fan Replacement)Fan Replacement (LH9) (Fan Replacement).
4. Install the radiator inlet hose to the radiator.
5. Using J 38185 reposition the radiator inlet hose clamp.
6. Install the radiator support bracket.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
7. Install the radiator support bracket retaining bolt.
Tighten the bolt to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
8. Install the radiator retaining bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 28 Nm (21 lb ft).
9. Install the discharge hose. Refer to Discharge Hose Replacement (LLR) (Discharge Hose Replacement) Discharge Hose Replacement (LH8) (Discharge Hose Replacement).
10. Remove the evaporator tube. Refer to Air Conditioning Evaporator Tube Replacement (LH8) (Air Conditioning Evaporator Tube Replacement) Air Conditioning Evaporator Tube Replacement (LLR) (Air Conditioning Evaporator Tube Replacement).
11. Install the fan shroud to the radiator.
12. Raise the vehicle.
13. Install the radiator outlet hose to the radiator.
14. Using J 38185 reposition the radiator outlet hose clamp to the radiator.
15. Connect the transmission cooler lines to the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection (Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection) for the 4L60-E/4L65-E transmission, if equipped.
16. Install the oil pan skid plate. Refer to Oil Pan Skid Plate Replacement (Oil Pan Skid Plate Replacement)
17. Install the engine shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement (Engine Shield Replacement)
18. Lower the vehicle.
19. Install the radiator vent inlet hose to the radiator.
20. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging).
21. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) (Service and Repair) Cooling System Draining and Filling (Vac-N-Fill) (Service and Repair).
