Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement

Removal Procedure




Caution: refer to restraint system service precautions.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
2. Remove the knee bolster trim cover.
3. Remove the shoulder tapping screws from the lower trim cover.




4. Gently unsnap the lower trim cover from the upper trim cover and remove the covers.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the upper trim cover onto the steering column.




2. Gently snap the lower trim cover to the upper trim cover.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

3. Install the shoulder tapping screws into the lower trim cover.

Tighten the screws to 3.5 N.m (31 lb in).

4. Install the knee bolster trim cover.
5. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
