Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Disable the SIR system.
2. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) storage compartment.
3. Remove the left and right windshield garnish moldings.
4. Remove the left and right front door sill plates.
5. Remove the left and right lower cowl panels.
6. Remove the instrument panel center trim plate.
7. Remove the radio.
8. Remove the left air outlet.
9. Remove the right air outlet.
10. Remove the knee bolster bracket.
11. Remove the instrument panel cluster (IPC) trim panel.
12. Remove the instrument panel cluster.
13. Remove the headlamp switch and retain for transfer.
14. Remove the ambient light sensor.
15. Remove the 3 upper I/P bolt covers.
16. Remove the 3 upper I/P nuts retaining the I/P to the bulkhead.
17. Remove the screw located behind the IPC.
18. Remove the 2 screws retaining the I/P compartment door latch striker.
19. Remove the 3 lower I/P retaining screws located near the I/P storage compartment.
20. Remove the digital radio receiver.
21. Remove the 2 screws located in the IPM opening.
22. Remove the screw from the I/P end cap.
23. Reach through the I/P storage compartment (1) opening and remove the screw retaining the I/P carrier to the I/P structure.
24. Grasp the lower center edge of the I/P and pull rearward in order to release the 2 retaining clips.
25. Grasp the lower right edge of the I/P and pull rearward in order to release the retaining clip.
26. Pull the I/P partially away from the I/P structure.
27. With automatic transmission, move the gear selector to low range and remove the shift knob.
28. With manual transmission, place the gear selector in 2nd or 4th gear and remove the shift knob.
29. With the aid of an assistant, carefully remove the I/P from the vehicle.
30. Remove the HVAC distributor duct from the instrument panel assembly.
31. Transfer the wiring harness to the new instrument panel.
32. Transfer the inflatable restraint module and bracket to the new instrument panel.
33. Disconnect the keyless entry antenna from the body control module (BCM).
34. Transfer the keyless entry antenna to the new I/P.
Installation Procedure
1. Connect the keyless entry antenna to the BCM.
2. Install the HVAC distributor duct to the instrument panel assembly.
3. With the aid of an assistant, partially install the I/P cover to the I/P structure.
4. Reach through the left side of the IPC opening and install the I/P wiring harness clips (1) to the I/P.
5. Reach through the IPC opening and install the I/P wiring harness clips (1) to the I/P.
6. Reach through the center stack opening and install the I/P wiring harness clips (1) to the HVAC vent.
7. Reach through the IPM opening and install the I/P wiring harness clips (1) to the I/P.
8. Ensure all the wire harness and electrical connectors are not pinched between the I/P and I/P structure.
9. Connect the electrical connectors to the power outlets.
10. Push on the lower center edge of the I/P and seat the 2 retaining clips.
11. Push on the lower right edge of the I/P and seat the retaining clip.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.
12. Install the 3 upper HVAC duct screws retaining the duct to the I/P.
Tighten the screws to 3 N.m (27 lb in).
13. Install the 3 upper nuts retaining the I/P to the bulkhead.
Tighten the nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
14. Reach through the I/P storage compartment opening (1) and install the screw retaining the I/P carrier to the I/P structure.
Tighten the screw to 3 N.m (27 lb in).
15. Install the 2 screws located in the IPM opening.
Tighten the screws to 3 N.m (27 lb in).
16. Install the end cap screw.
Tighten the screws to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).
17. Position the hazard warning switch harness through the routing hole.
18. Install the 2 screws retaining the I/P compartment door latch.
Tighten the screws to 3 N.m (27 lb in).
19. Install the 3 lower I/P retaining screws located near the I/P storage compartment.
Tighten the screws to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
20. Install the screw located behind the IPC.
Tighten the screw to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
21. Install the 3 upper I/P bolt covers.
22. Install the ambient light sensor.
23. Install the headlamp switch.
24. Install the left air outlet.
25. Install the IPC.
26. Install the IPC trim plate.
27. Install the knee bolster bracket.
28. Install the digital radio receiver.
29. Install the right air outlet.
30. Install the radio.
31. Install the instrument panel center trim panel.
32. Install the I/P storage compartment.
33. Install the left and right windshield garnish moldings.
34. Install the left and right lower cowl panels.
35. Install the left and right front door sill plates.
36. Install the transmission shift knob.
37. Enable the SIR system.
