Electronic Brake Control Module: Service and Repair
Brake Master Cylinder with Power Brake Booster and Chassis Control Module Replacement
Removal Procedure
Important:
* In the following service procedure, plug the brake pipes to avoid dirt or any type of contaminates to enter the brake system.
* Depress the brake pedal 20 times to release accumulator pressure.
Disconnect the rear and left front brake pipes from the brake master cylinder.
2. Disconnect the right front brake pipe from the brake master cylinder.
3. Disconnect the electrical connectors at the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV).
4. Disconnect the electrical connector for the fluid level sensor.
5. Remove the knee bolster panel.
6. Remove the knee bolster bracket.
7. Remove the clevis pin retainer from the clevis pin.
8. Remove the clevis pin from the master cylinder push rod.
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution.
Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice.
Important: It maybe necessary to relocate or remove some of the wiring harness from their retainers to gain enough clearance to remove the mounting nuts for the brake master and or the brake master cylinder itself.
9. Remove the mounting nuts for the brake master cylinder (2).
10. Remove the brake master cylinder assembly (1).
Installation Procedure
1. Install the brake master cylinder assembly (1) in the mounting holes.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.
2. Install the mounting nuts for the brake master cylinder (2).
Tighten the brake master cylinder nuts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
3. Install the clevis pin in the master cylinder push rod.
4. Install the clevis pin retainer from the clevis pin.
5. Install the knee bolster bracket.
6. Install the knee bolster panel.
7. Connect the electrical connector for the fluid level sensor.
8. Connect the electrical connectors at the BPMV.
9. Connect the right front brake pipe to the brake master cylinder.
Tighten the brake master cylinder fittings to 19 N.m (14 lb ft).
10. Connect the rear and left front brake pipes to the brake master cylinder.
Tighten the brake master cylinder fittings to 19 N.m (14 lb ft).
11. Adjust the stop lamp switch.
12. Bleed the brake system.
