Filler Tube and Seal Replacement
Filler Tube and Seal Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the transmission oil level indicator.
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the right hand catalytic converter.
4. Remove the transmission heat shield bolt and shield.
5. Remove the nut securing the oil lever indicator tube to the transmission housing.
6. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
7. Remove the oil level indicator tube from the transmission case and seal.
8. Remove the seal from the transmission case.
Installation Procedure
1. Install a new seal into the transmission case.
2. Install the oil level indicator tube into the seal.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.
3. Install the nut securing the oil level indicator tube to the transmission stud.
Tighten the nut to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).
4. Install the transmission heat shield.
5. Install the 2 bolts retaining the heat shield.
Tighten the bolts to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).
6. Install the right hand catalytic converter.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Fill the transmission to the proper level with DEXRON(R) VI transmission fluid. Refer to Transmission Fluid Checking.
Important: It is recommended that transmission adaptive pressure (TAP) information be reset.
Resetting the TAP values using a scan tool will erase all learned values in all cells. As a result, The ECM, PCM or TCM will need to relearn TAP values. Transmission performance may be affected as new TAP values are learned.
9. Reset the TAP values. Refer to Control Module References.
