Interior - Rattle From Right Side of Instrument Panel

Bulletin No.: 08-01-39-002

Date: January 18, 2008

TECHNICAL

Subject:
Rattle From Right Side Of Instrument Panel Typically Over Bumps (Reposition A/C Compressor Discharge Line)

Models:
2007-2008 HUMMER H2

Condition

Some customers may comment on a rattle from the right side of the Instrument Panel (IP). The noise typically occurs when going over bumps.

Cause

This condition may be caused by the discharge line from the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor to the condenser touching or close to the front lower inboard corner of the right wheel house panel near the radiator. When going over bumps the A/C line may touch the wheelhouse panel and cause a rattle.

Correction

Technicians are to reposition the A/C compressor discharge line as necessary to provide clearance at the right wheelhouse panel. Create a 13 mm (0.50 in) gap between the line and the wheelhouse panel. Do not move the line too far or it may touch the radiator vent hose and possibly restrict fluid flow.
