Inclination Sensor Inoperative

Inclination Sensor Inoperative

Diagnostic Instructions

* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure. Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle
* Review Strategy Based Diagnosis for an overview of the diagnostic approach.
* Diagnostic Procedure Instructions provides an overview of each diagnostic category.

Circuit/System Description

The inclination sensor detects changes in the parked angle of the vehicle. If a change greater than 0.3° for a 7 second period is detected, the vehicles content theft alarm is sounded. The sensor recalibrates itself each time the vehicle is parked, which allows it to account for parking on steep grades without unintentional activation.

Diagnostic Aids

The intrusion sensor is a dealer installed accessory. Not all vehicles are equipped with an intrusion sensor.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition Off, disconnect the harness connector at the inclination sensor. Verify B+ is present at terminal 3.

If B+ is not present, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If all circuits test normal, replace the BCM.

2. Test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between terminal 4 and ground.

If greater than 1 ohm, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.

3. Verify a test lamp illuminates between terminal 1 and ground.

If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance.

4. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the inclination sensor.
