Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Service and Repair



Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) Replacement

Tools Required
^ CH-47830

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution.





1. Remove the brake master cylinder assembly.
2. Using the CH-47830, install the brake master cylinder assembly in a vise.





3. Remove the brake master cylinder reservoir.





4. Remove the hydraulic brake booster motor.





5. Remove the mounting bolts for the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV).
6. Remove the mounting bolt for the brake fluid wiring harness.
7. Remove the for the brake fluid wiring harness.

Important: When removing the BPMV from the brake master cylinder, ensure that the locating pin remains in the brake master cylinder body.

8. Remove the BPMV/module from the brake master cylinder.

Important: DO NOT re-use the BPMV gasket, use ONLY NEW gasket.

9. Remove the gasket from the brake master cylinder.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the NEW BPMV/module gasket on the locating pin.
2. Install the BPMV/module brake master cylinder.

Notice:

Important: Finger tighten the mounting bolt to hold the BPMV/module in the proper position.

3. Install the mounting bolts for the BPMV/module.
Tighten the BPMV/module mounting bolts to 32 Nm (24 ft. lbs.).





4. Install the hydraulic brake booster motor.





5. Install the brake master cylinder reservoir.

Caution: Refer to Bleed Procedure Caution.

6. Bench bleed the brake master cylinder assembly.
7. Remove the brake master cylinder assembly from CH-47830.





8. Install the brake master cylinder assembly.
9. Bleed the hydraulic system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure).
