Engine Oil Pan Installation
Special Tools Required
- Subframe Adapter VSB02C000016
- Engine Support Hanger, A and Reds AAR-T1256
- 2006 Civic Engine Hanger VSB02C000025
- Engine Hanger Adapter VSB02C000015

1. Remove all of the old liquid gasket from the oil pan mating surfaces, the bolts, and the bolt holes.
2. Clean and dry the oil pan mating surfaces.
3. Apply liquid gasket, P/N 08717-0004, 08718-0003, or 08718-0009 to the lower engine block mating surface, and to the inside edge of the threaded bolt holes. Install the component within 5 minutes of applying the liquid gasket.
NOTE:
- Apply a 2.5 mm (0.098 in) diameter bead of liquid gasket along the broken line (A).
- If too much time has passed after applying the liquid gasket, remove the old liquid gasket and residue, then reapply new liquid gasket.
4. Install the oil pan.
5. Tighten the bolts/nuts in three steps. In the final step, torque all bolts/nuts, in sequence, to 12 Nm (1.2 kg-m, 8.7 lb-ft). Wipe off the excess liquid gasket on the each side of crankshaft pulley and the flywheel.
NOTE:
- Wait at least 30 minutes before filling the engine with oil.
- Do not run the engine within 3 hours after installing the oil pan.
6. Install the transmission mounting bolts (A) and the clutch case cover (B).
7. Install the lower torque rod bracket.
8. If the engine is still in the vehicle, do the following steps.
9. Using the subframe adapter (VSB02C000016) and a jack, raise the front subframe up to the body.
10. Loosely install the new front subframe mounting bolts.
11. Align all reference marks on the front subframe with the edge of the body, then tighten the bolts on the front subframe to the specified torque.
12. Remove the jack and the subframe adapter.
13. Tighten the new mid-stiffener mounting bolts on both side.
14. Install the lower torque rod, then loosely install the new lower torque rod mounting bolts.
15. Loosely install the new front mount mounting bolt, then install the lower radiator hose to the clamp.
16. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
17. Loosen the upper torque rod mounting bolt.
18. Remove the engine support hanger A and Reds (AAR-T1256), the 2006 Civic engine hanger (VSB02C000025) and the engine hanger adapter (VSB02C000015).
19. Raise the vehicle on the lift.
20. Tighten the lower torque rod mounting bolts in the numbered sequence shown.
21. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
22. Tighten the upper torque rod mounting bolt.
23. Raise the vehicle on the lift.
24. Tighten the front mount mounting bolt.
25. Install the stiffener, then tighten the steering gearbox mounting bolt and the stiffener mounting bolt. Install the harness clamp to the front subframe.
26. Install the steering gearbox bracket. Install the stiffener, then tighten the steering gearbox mounting bolt and the stiffener mounting bolt.
27. Connect the lower arms to the knuckles.
28. Connect the stabilizer links Front Stabilizer Link Removal/Installation.
29. Install the front wheels.
30. Install the splash shield.
31. Refill the engine with engine oil Service and Repair.
