Front Seat Removal/Installation

Do the ODS unit initialization after front passenger's seat replacement.

NOTE:

- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the body or tear the seat covers.
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.

1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, then wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.

2. Adjust the steering column to the full tilt up position and to the full telescopic in position. Adjust the seat-back recline to a middle position.

3. 2-door passenger's seat: Carefully insert the tip of a small screwdriver (A) through the hole in the back of the front seat belt lower anchor cover (B), and into the hole in the front seat belt lower anchor (C). Unlock the lower anchor by pushing in on the screwdriver. Remove the screwdriver, and then detach the front seat belt anchor plate (D) and the anchor cover from the lower anchor.






4. Except 2-door passenger's seat: Slide the front seat all the way forward fully. Carefully pry up on the bottom edge of the anchor cover (A) with the appropriate trim tool to release the hooks (B) and the tabs (C), then remove the cover by pulling it upward.






5. Except 2-door passenger's seat: Remove the lower anchor bolt (A).






6. Remove the seat track end covers (A) from the back of both seat tracks.

7. Remove the seat mounting bolts from the rear side of the front seat.






8. Slide the front seat all the way back, and remove the seat mounting bolts.






9. Lift up the front seat, then disconnect the connectors.

1. Disconnect the side airbag connector (A), the seat belt buckle switch connector (B), and the seat belt buckle tensioner connector (C).

2. Driver's seat: Disconnect the seat heater/seat position sensor connector or the seat position sensor connector (D).

3. Passenger's seat: Disconnect the seat heater/ODS unit connector or the ODS unit connector (E).

4. Except 2-door passenger's seat: Detach the harness clip (F).

10. With the help of an assistant, carefully remove the front seat through the front door opening.

11. Install the front seat in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
- Push the clips and the hooks into place securely.
- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the seat mounting bolts before reinstallation.
- Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten them to specified torque.
- Tighten the seat mounting bolts to the specified torque in the sequence shown. Slide the seat all the way back and tighten (1) and (2), then slide it forward and tighten (3) and (4).
- Make sure each connector is plugged in properly.
- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure.
- Check for any DTCs that may have been set during repairs, and clear them.
