Trunk Lid Opener Cable/Fuel Fill Door Opener Cable Replacement

NOTE:

- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the body or the related parts.
- Take care not to kink the trunk lid opener cable/fuel fill door opener cable.

1. Remove these items:

- 4-door: Rear seat side bolster
- Kick panel, driver's side:
- 2-door
- 4-door
- B-pillar lower trim, left side Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Pillar Areas
- 2-door: Rear side trim panel, left side Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Rear Side Area (2-Door)
- Trunk side trim panel, left side:
- 2-door Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Trunk Area (2-Door)
- 4-door Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Trunk Area (4-Door)
- For some models: Trunk lid trim Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Trunk Lid (4-Door)
- Trunk lid opener/fuel fill door opener Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Trunk Lid (4-Door)
- Fuel cap adapter Service and Repair

2. Pull back the carpet as needed.

3. Release the opener cable (A) from the clips (B). Remove the cushion tapes (C).

4. Release the hooks (A) from inside the vehicle, and remove the grommet (B) from the body.






5. Release the hook (A), then remove the grommet (B) from the fuel fill door latch (C).





6. Remove the fuel fill door opener cable (D) from inside the body.

7. Detach the opener cable junction box (A) from the body.

8. Disconnect the trunk lid opener cable (B) from the trunk lid latch (C) Service and Repair.

9. Release the trunk lid opener cable/fuel fill door opener cable from the clips (D), and detach the clips (E).

10. Remove the trunk lid opener cable/fuel fill door opener cable from the vehicle.

11. Install the opener cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- Align the marks (A) on the opener cable (B) with the cable clips (C) as shown.
- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
- Replace the cushion tapes with new ones.
- Make sure the trunk lid and fuel fill door opens properly and locks securely.
- Push the clips into place securely.
